FAQ

What kind of products do you make?

We make pantry goods, herbal blends, and everyday tools shaped by season and place. Our offerings include herbal teas, jams and honey, dry goods and starter cultures, beeswax goods, tallow, and other hearth provisions — each made with care, restraint, and attention to quality.

Are your products made in small batches?

Yes. Everything is produced in small batches, often tied to what is growing, harvested, or available at a given time. Quantities are limited, and some items are offered seasonally.

Where are your products made?

Our work begins on a five-acre homestead in Wrentham, Massachusetts. The rhythms of that place — its soil, weather, gardens, and seasons — shape what we make and when we make it.

Do you wildcraft or forage your ingredients?

Some ingredients are grown by us, some are responsibly wild-foraged, and others are sourced from trusted growers when needed. We work with what is abundant and sustainable, without compromising the land or future growth.

Are your herbal products medicinal?

Our herbal offerings are rooted in traditional use and everyday wellness. They are intended to support, not replace, professional medical care.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

How do I use your herbal teas and preparations?

Most teas are prepared by adding 1–2 teaspoons of herbs to a cup of hot water and steeping, covered, for 10–15 minutes. This can be adjusted based on taste and preference.

Herbal preparations are generally most effective when used consistently over time rather than as one-time remedies.

How should I store your products?

Most pantry and herbal goods should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Tallow and other body products should be stored away from heat.

Because our products are minimally processed, proper storage matters. Specific guidance is included on product pages or packaging when needed.

How long do your products last?

Shelf life varies by product and storage conditions.

As a general guide:

  • Herbal teas and dried goods are best used within 12–18 months
  • Tallow and body products are best used within 6–12 months
  • Honey and preserves should follow product-specific guidance once opened

Use what you have while it is at its best — these are meant to be used, not stored indefinitely.

Why are some products only available at certain times?

We work in season. Products are made when ingredients are ready — not year-round for the sake of consistency. When something is gone, it returns only when the season allows.

Do you ship year-round?

Yes. During periods of extreme heat or cold, some items may be delayed or limited to protect quality. Full details are outlined on our Shipping & Returns page.

Are your products sensitive to temperature?

Some products, especially tallow-based goods, may soften or melt in warm conditions and firm up in cooler temperatures. This does not affect their quality or usability.

Can I request a custom order or bulk purchase?

We focus on small, intentional releases. Limited custom or bulk orders may be possible depending on season, materials, and capacity.

How can I stay informed about new releases?

Join our email list. We use it sparingly to share new drops, seasonal offerings, and notes from the homestead.

Are you a licensed residential kitchen?

Yes. The Last Great American Herb Co. operates under a Massachusetts-licensed residential kitchen in accordance with state cottage food laws.

Some products are made in a residential kitchen not subject to routine state inspection.

Why do you only ship pantry goods within Massachusetts?

Massachusetts cottage food law limits the sale and shipment of certain food items to within the Commonwealth.

For that reason:

  • Pantry and food items are available only to Massachusetts shipping addresses
  • Orders containing restricted items placed for out-of-state delivery will be canceled and refunded
  • This limitation does not apply to non-food items such as body care or cosmetic products

These requirements are set by state law and are not discretionary.

Do you handle allergens?

Our products are made in a home kitchen that may process common allergens. While we take care in handling, we cannot guarantee the absence of cross-contact.

Final note

Our products are made to be used — regularly, thoughtfully, and in rhythm with daily life. Variation in color, texture, and appearance is part of working with natural materials and is to be expected.
